Another tour that I went on, as part of the Summer of Heritage, was the Historic Blackrock Tour. Our guide was fantastic, and was incredibly knowledgeable about the area. The weather was glorious on the day of the tour, I think it was the hottest day of the year.
The tour started in the Park and then moved through the park, along the railway line and up past the train station and towards the cross on main street.
We were told about the how one main held the record for high diving for Ireland for over 30 years. The railway took 20 months to build from Dublin city centre to Dun Laoghaire, past Blackrock.
It was a fascinating tour to attend. Everyone loved the story about the school girl who rescued the two children.
I really do recommend these Summer of Heritage Tours.
