The photos below come from a trip to Rathfarnham Castle in Dublin. As you can see the bones of the building are on view, and there is a lack of furniture in place, this is partially part of a policy of the OPW and partially due to funding. They believe that it is interesting to see the proportion of the room and not to get distracted by furniture. The roofs in some of the rooms are ornate and beautifully decorated, as you can see, it is great that they have some of the pieces of art in place that is linked to the history of the castle. Our tour guide was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable about the families that have lived in the castle, as well as, of course, it’s history.
