These photos come from a local Gaelic Football 7’s event I attended recently, on a freezing cold, wet, windy winters day. It was a lot of fun and the players were incredibly nice to have a chat with. The park that they are based in is a fantastic facility that has about fifteen different pitches for a variety of sports. Gaelic football is different to either soccer or American football, it is a traditional Irish sport, this sport allows you to handle the ball as well as kicking it. Another difference is that penalty shootouts are not a part of the game, that being said, there were two during this event. The eight teams from four clubs, Cabinteely, Shankill, Stars of Erin, Geraldine Morans, Kilcoole and Na Gaeil Oga seemed to have a great day, despite the inclement weather. The event was covered in the local paper, the Dublin Gazette which was published on the 7th of February 2019.
